I started a series on Instagram that I think is not only important, but also necessary.

Over the past year, I’ve been doing deep dives into the world of sustainability and how it relates to the fashion industry. One of the biggest issues with the sustainable movement is that there’s no set definition, no set parameters, for what it means to be sustainable in the industry. On one hand, it means that sustainability can be a lot of things––which allows for a great many ways to tackle the problem. But on the other hand, there’s no uniform approach.

I think one part of this problem is that we need to better educate the consumer on what sustainability is, and what to look for when shopping for products––be it a toothbrush or a new pair of pants.

With this in mind, I’ve launched a series of educational posts to the Petal + Ash Instagram page.

Today’s post defines sustainability, as it pertains to the fashion industry.
