Yesterday was a really, really (really) special day. I got to see my first samples of the Petal + Ash signature bra and panty set. Like, whoa! To hold the tangible version of something that, months ago, was just a sketch (and a few years ago was just an idea) was beyond special.

My pattern/sample maker/production partner is AMAZING. She is the actual real deal––she’s been in the intimate apparel industry a long time, and I’m so honored to have her on my team. We have a great energy working together, and it’s fun to begin to bridge her expertise in construction with my needs in working with materials that ultimately are compostable. It’s definitely a challenge to find materials that have the functionality needed for an undergarment, yet also meet the parameters of circularity.

We have changes and tweaks to make, but it was great to get a first sample made. Now we have actual undergarments to build off of, and I’m one step closer to the finish line (or starting line, depending how you consider launching a brand!). My next samples will be done in a few weeks, and this next round will undergo fit testing before we make any further tweaks.

It’s all becoming very real, and I couldn’t be more excited!! Here’s a sneak peak of the Petal + Ash bra––keep in mind it’s our first sample, so the fabric is not dyed, and changes are coming!
