A Full Circle Moment: From Sourcing in Paris to Moderating in New York

A year and a half ago, while still working through my masters, I received a grant to support a sourcing trip for Petal + Ash. I started my trip in London, at the Future Fabrics Expo (which I mentioned in last week’s Substack, and is where I found Petal + Ash’s hero fabric). After London, I traveled onto Paris for the lingerie and swim trade show, Interfilière.

I stayed in the cutest residential neighborhood, and—in all of Paris—I wound up on the opposite end of the same block as Philly-based undergarment fit extraordinaire (and my now dear friend) Kimmay Cauldwell.

For my first time attending Interfilière, it was great to have a friend there. Not only did I have someone to show me the ropes at the trade show, I had a lovely dinner date most nights, and an adventure partner. On some downtime, Kimmay and I even went to the Paris Opera House—famous as an historic opera house, as well as where the famed novel and musical Phantom of the Opera (the show I toured with for 6 years) took place.

Me, doing a signature Degas pose in front of the actual Box 5 at the Paris Opera House; the box reserved for the Phantom at every show, or else disaster may ensue.
