Have you ever thought about where ‘away’ is, when you throw your old clothes away? The thing is, ‘away’ is actually just somewhere else. In our current linear economy [read: Take (resources from the earth) | Make (product) | Waste (throw product away), most old clothes are destined for landfill.
What’s so bad about that?
In a landfill environment, our clothes (among other waste materials) release methane — a potent greenhouse gas — into the atmosphere, furthering the effects of climate change.
